Seaside
villas
Stay where the sea lions are.
Baird Bay Seaside Villas are open year-round, and right now, winter is calling.
Selkie (sleeps up to 6) and Eko (sleeps up to 8) are two thoughtfully designed, self-contained properties set directly on the coast. Both feature fully equipped kitchens, outdoor lounges, BBQ areas, and shared access to a swimming pool overlooking the bay.
Winter at Baird Bay hits differently. Dramatic skies, quiet bays, and world-class fishing right at your door. Walk a dramatic coastline you’ll have almost entirely to yourself, fish from the shore or launch a boat into some of the best waters on the Eyre Peninsula, or simply slow down and let the solitude do its work. No crowds, no itinerary – just the Eyre Peninsula at its most raw and beautiful.
This is the fishing trip you’ve been planning. The coastal escape you didn’t know you needed.
Fishing at Baird Bay
Winter is peak season on the Eyre Peninsula, and Baird Bay delivers.
With the boat ramp just metres from the villas, you’re in the water and fishing before most people have finished their morning coffee. Whether you’re chasing a big haul or simply casting into a quiet bay at dawn, this is world-class fishing with a private base to come back to.
What’s running in winter:
Australian salmon are schooling through the shallow flats in impressive numbers – visible in clear conditions, moving through the shallows and offering exciting sight-fishing for anglers casting soft plastics and hard-bodied lures. Plenty of action for experienced anglers and those new to lure fishing alike.
Southern bluefin tuna become increasingly active as water temperatures drop, with schools regularly spotted busting up on the surface within easy reach by small boat. Few experiences in fishing compare to watching tuna feed on the surface and casting directly into the action.
Nannygai fishing out the front of the bay has been remarkably consistent, with reliable catches across a range of depths throughout winter.
King George whiting fire up as winter progresses, becoming more active across the sand flats and channels inside the bay. These are highly regarded table fish, responding well to both traditional baits and modern lure techniques.
Flathead and silver trevally round out a healthy system throughout the sheltered inshore waters – no shortage of options for those who want to stay close to the villas and explore the bay at their own pace.
Sheltered inshore waters. Productive offshore grounds. A boat ramp at your door. Winter at Baird Bay is shaping up to be one of the most exciting times of year to fish the Eyre Peninsula.
Fish all day. Sleep in style.
